At the age of 7, Maureen started drawing and painting without any formal training. Her natural talent was demonstrated in her unique drawings and sketches of Jamaican sceneries and still life. Maureen moved to California after spending several years in Toronto, Canada with her family. Shortly after her relocation, she opened Maureen's Boutique on Main Street in Santa Monica where she used her artistic ability in designing hand painted fabrics for her many unique creations. After 18 years of owning and operating Maureen’s, she realized that her true love was art and design. Maureen was strongly influenced by Pollock and Van Gogh. Her first introduction to Van Gogh was as a teenager while working for IBM Canada where she was sent to Banff Springs to work the 100% Club. One of her duties was to hang and sell Van Gogh paintings. Maureen was truly fascinated and developed a stronger love for this artist's work. Later on, Maureen was exposed to and inspired by artist Jackson Pollock whose work she truly identifies with.

As a former musician, her artwork is inspired by contemporary jazz, reggae, classical music and the blues.

Maureen currently invests her efforts in creating unusual abstract designs using acrylic on canvas and mixed media, which reflect the colors of the Caribbean's subtle hues contrasted with blazing colors. Her work brings a new flavor and accent that transforms and is described as eclectic and transcultural.

Her paintings are sold nationally by interior designers, art consultants, architects and contractors for high-end residential and corporate projects. She also specializes in corporate art by creating original pieces designed for your offices.

Maureen's paintings can be viewed in her Venice Studio by appointment. They are also available for rentals.
